Casting Revealed for World Premiere of The Knowledge

Producers have revealed the cast for Jack Rosenthal’s The Knowledge. The said production will run at Charing Cross Theatre from 4th September to 11th November 2017.

Steven Pacey, Celine Abrahams, James Alexandrou, Jenna Augen, Louise Callaghan, Ben Caplan, Michael Chance, Alice Felgate, and Fabrien Frankel are joining the stage adaptation of this classic British film.

The 1979 film follows the struggles of four Londoners. In order to better themselves, they try to learn the fearsome “Knowledge”–the process of becoming a London black cab taxi driver.

Directing the play is Maureen Lipman. Not only was she one of the lead stars of the film, but she is also the widow of Jack Rosenthal himself. Meanwhile, Simon Block wrote the stage adaptation.

Steven Pacey will play the eccentric examiner, Mr Burgess. He is best known for his role as Del Tarrant in the TV series Blake’s 7. Moreover, his theatre credits include VolponeThe Jew of Malta (RSC Stratford), and King Lear (Chichester/New York).

Celine Abrahams starred in feature films One MoreThe Show, and Kaleidoscope Man.

James Alexandrou is famous for playing the role of Martin Fowler in the BBC One soap opera, EastEnders. He was also the presenter of BBC Three’s Bizarre Crimes. Furthermore, James’s other TV and film credits include CasualtySemper Fidel, and Missing.

Jenna Augen graduated with an Honours Degree in Acting from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her theatre credits include The Witches (West Yorkshire Playhouse), The Boys from Syracuse (Commonwealth Shakespeare Company), and Episodes (Showtime/Hat Tricks Productions). Jenna also appeared in the short film Penelope in the Treehouse, BBC’s The Night Watch, and a USC short film titled Josephine and the Roach.

Meanwhile, Louise Callaghan studied acting for three years at Rose Bruford College. Her theatre credits include First Draft (Camden People’s Theatre), The Merchant of Venice (Creation Theatre Company), and Foxfinder (Theatre 503).
