Based on the Academy Award-winning animated film, the hit musical’s global presence has grown to six productions on four continents. Aside from the West End, Aladdin is now in its fourth year on Broadway and has also opened in Tokyo, Japan, Hamburg, Germany, and Australia. There is also a North American tour that just started in Chicago in April 2017.
Above all, Aladdin features the beloved songs from the animated classic and new music written by Tony, Olivier, and eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken. Meanwhile, lyrics were from Olivier Award and two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman, three-time Tony and Olivier Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice, and four-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin. Casey Nicholaw is the director and the choreographer of the production.
Aladdin welcomes new cast
Joining the West End production in the title role of Aladdin is Matthew Croke, who made his West End debut in his first performance last Monday, 5th June 2017. Meanwhile, Jade Ewen and Trevor Dion Nicholas remain as Jasmine and Genie respectively. Don Gallagher and Irvine Iqbal continue in their roles as Jafar and the Sultan as well.
Included in the new cast is Nick Cavaliere as Iago, while current cast members Miles Barrow, Leon Craig, and Daniel de Bourg take over the roles of Omar, Bakbak, and Kassim respectively.
The company also welcomed Joshua Steel and Monica Swayne; Damien Winchester, Niko Wirachman, and more.
The remaining cast comprises Albey Brookes, Oliver Lidert, and Ian Oswald; Kyle Seeley, Sadie-Jean Shirley, and Ricardo Spriggs; Kayleigh Thadani, Jermaine Woods, and more.
