Matilda the Musical

Matilda the Musical is the story of an incredibly talented and intelligent young girl who is under appreciated by her uncaring parents. Matilda Wormwood faces challenges during school and home life but soon discovers a unique and particularly amusing way of dealing with things. Adapted from the book by Roald Dahl writer Dennis Kelly takes the tale to new heights which continue to amaze audiences in London’s West End.

The musical has won upwards of 50 internationally recognised awards, including Best Musical thirteen times. During its opening in the West end of London Matilda the Musical took home a record breaking seven Oliver Awards, the show has been taken to Broadway and whilst there won an outstanding four Tony awards.

The music featured has been composed and written by Tim Minchin, who creates an exciting and inclusive atmosphere in which the viewer is gripped and feels immersed in the story. The highly respected Royal Shakespeare Company is producing the show at one of London’s newest venues, the Cambridge Theatre. First opened in 1930, the Cambridge Theatre has been host to some of the best musical performances over almost 100 years.

Matilda The Musical is recommended for a general audience. As an advisory to adults who might bring young people, the show is suitable for ages 6 and up. All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a ticket. Babes-in-arms are not admitted to the auditorium. All children must be old enough to occupy their own seats.
